The K7 (76-hole / S-shape) MBBR media is a high-density, high-surface-area biofilter carrier designed specifically for heavy-load biological treatment where maximum biofilm surface area and clogging resistance are required.
Key Technical Profile
Structure: Circular HDPE disc with 76 individual internal channels/chambers, featuring an S-shaped internal fin structure (or sinusoidal cell walls). Role of S-Shape Fins: The curved S-shape walls increase mechanical strength while creating turbulent, non-linear fluid flow through each chamber. This prevents sludge compaction, improves oxygen transfer, and ensures uniform biofilm shearing.
Surface Area: Very high active surface area, typically ranging from 1,000 to 1,200+m^2/m^3 (protected area).
Typical Dimensions: ≈25mm (Diameter)×4--10mm (Thickness/Slice)
Material: Virgin HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) with a density of 0.96--0.98g/cm^3 for ideal neutral buoyancy under aeration.
Primary Applications
High-BOD/COD Industrial Effluent: Chemical plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing, landfill leachate, and paper mills.
Compact Footprint Upgrades: Upgrading existing municipal or industrial WWTP basins to higher capacity without increasing physical tank size.
Nitrification Systems: Providing maximum protected surface area for slow-growing nitrifying bacteria.
